Lake District & Cumbria

The Lake District is rightly famed as one of the most attractive areas in the British Isles. Visit the delightful Lakeside villages of Bowness, Ambleside, and Keswick with the stunning backdrop of the Lake District mountains. It is easy to get away from it all along the dramatic Hard Knott Pass and Wrynose Pass. The remains of the Roman Fort of Mediobogdum can be visited, on a shelf of rock overlooking Eskdale, where lonely Roman soldiers spent their duty hours. There are also many literary sites to be visited in connection with William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
